i've just recently been getting used to sweeping. I only have trouble the 3-stringers. I've been playing everything by savatage, "Pull The Plug" by Death, "Dream On" by Aerosmith, and originals by my band; NoHoldsBarred .

I'm also now working on Paganini's 24th Caprice from a recording and the sheet music (none of that pansy tab stuff for me). Got the entire first section basically nailed at a decent speed so far, cleanly.

I took up practising Becker's Serrana. I can do the sweeps up to speed but that sucker sure had fast diminished-fingerings. My 1st and 4th finger can't handle that crazyness. Increased practisement must be taken.

Troy Stetina's song "Sunrise."
Yngwie's arrangement of Paganini's Capriccio # 5.
A whole buttload of alternate picking exercises and solo excerpts that focus on alternate picking.

Toccata and Fugue by Bach! It's a good hybrid picking challange.

Um.... I'm practicing improvising over blues changes such as Minor blues progressions, standard I-IV-V, Jazz blues, and including: ii-V-I and rhythm changes I'm working on using altered scales such as Harmonic Minor up a 4th for a b9b13 chord.....I need to learn my whole tone and dim. scales...Also working on getting a cover band together so I can make money on the weekend ........Getting ready for my Berklee audition this spring....sight reading, sweeping, speed picking, whammy bar dives, and my teacher is teaching me how to solo in 3/8, 5/8, and 7/8 time over a 4/4 beat or song. I bought my new Imac and I start studio apprenticing next week...I'm a complete nub in the studio .....Also, talking to a vocal coach to maybe if i have time start vocal lessons

I've been obsessed with Kiko Loureiro's Dream Circle for the past few days... He's got a run on his Young Guitar (Japan) Video that I just need to learn - problem is, I don't have the clueliest what he's doing.
I got a few backing tracks written by him, and I'm basically trying to learn how to improvise over the chord changes - We'll see where that takes me.
Meanwhile, my sweep still needs a lot of work, but at least it's part-way there... I feel that if I can learn how to integrate it better in my improvs, it will improve by itself...
