Im building the prototype for a pattent I am applying for. I already know this theory works. I built 1 back in high school, but didnt have means to test it....other than the cheap equipment I had at the time, (DOD pedals and a way fuckin cheap Harmony amp).
I have another project going that is going to eat up alot of my free time, but Im still going to be taking orders without advertizing...for now.
I know this post is pretty vague, but when Im granted this pattent, Ill spill the beans.

Never will give up. This is what Im going to be doing the day I die. I have a passion for wood and 6 strings (and 7 thanks to Mike). I work with metal by profession, and LOVE it too. Its safe to say, there will be a MYWAY aluminum guitar in the future.

I havnt figured it all out yet on paper. Ill get the quote on the aluminum in the morning......and hoping not to get stickershock. Metal prices are high right now. I was planning on letting the price drop before I attempted 1. No sense in charging a grand for a product thats worth 600 ya know?
I have all of the tools at work to build 1, and to be honest, I do have the itch.
Ill get back to ya on it.

I suppose I should also ask what the tonal properties of aluminum are... although it'd badass one way or another... its f@#Kin' metal! I've heard that the Splat-o-caster sounds kinda nasal... and the Steel Paul and Steelcaster sound very nasal. The last two aren't made of aluminum though. If you haven't seen em' check em' out: www.jamestrussart.com/Newsite/Models.htmwww.fender.com/news/index.php?display_article=135I noticed these are essentially hollow as well... would solid be too heavy? Obviously steel would be, but aluminum is supposed to be light, right? Sorry for all the questions dude... I'm just very curious about alternate materials in general. ;D

IMHO...... aluminum will sound bright......almost too bright depending on the quality of the billet. Even cheaply made billets are pretty uniform in density. I have mixed emotions about trying 1. Im a pool player and I fucking HATE aluminum sticks. I prefer naked maple on my shafts (naked = sanded, no eurothene, varnish and the like). I have a serious problem with the idea of an aluminum neck. Metals tend to be oil magnets...ie skin oils and dirt.... Cory can attest that I love naked maple. The Tracer I sold him was set up the way I play, and like it. The neck on that axe was sanded smooth. A very good blank was used on that neck too.
Ill mull it over for a while as I get the other projects done.
BTW.... a 17x22x2" aluminum billet goes for $192.33 USD as of yesterday.

The resonator Im working on is made of steel, but its only 2.3 pounds added to the mass of the body. I would use brass if it wasnt so damn expensive. Aluminum is the best candidate for a body material. Its light and readily availible. Titanium is out of the question right now for me. I would love to work with it, but the expense of the billets and the time to machine it..... no way I could afford it. I have my main project on the easel... i just need to get back into the old board to get the specs back......hint hint.............Joel.
