unless you're a luthier (or an idiot who doesn't mind ruining an ALMOST perfectly good guitar) there's not really all that much you can do to help an SG out, IMO.

HAHHAHAHHAA true.
i mean... dont get me wrong that Korina SG sounds great and have amazing sustain....
BUT with big&short neck, small frets, no floyd, unbalanced body (body is too light) etc... its gettin' dusk in its case

I prefer naked necks myself. The peavey of death was sanded and I still kick myself for selling it. Good news is, as soon as this house thing is taken care of....I will own it once more =)
Thanks Cory.

I've thought of doing this on my Ibanez...painted necks suck. But I'm not gonna risk doing it myself cause I don't know what the hell I'm doing.

But I'm not gonna risk doing it myself cause I don't know what the hell I'm doing. just take some 250 (or something) sandpaper... sand a lil bit everywhere... then use some 400 / 600 ( 600 have smaller grains than 400, so you get a better finition) Anyway, paint is the enemy of guitar, cause its good to absord sound/resonance... sometimes i think about sanding the back ov my dinky, but it would look ugly :/

I love raw necks without any oil, laquer or paint.
IMPORTANT if you have a neck-thru, let the PRO remove the paint, DO NOT do it yourself, you can seriously damage the neck... by removing the paint... the pressure changes trastically and it can crack.

See, THAT'S why I was afraid of doing this myself. Just got Gabby, don't wanna mutilate her so soon.

For a SUPERSMOOTH finish....go with 180...then 320-360...and finish it off with 1000 grit. Do this sanding ALL by hand.
