I've decided that I really fucking want one. I want all that extra range and all those options. So... Which ones are good? I'm looking for something in the $500-800 range, ideally, and probably not beyond $700: I need to get another guitar since my current one is slowly deteriorating, but don't have a buttload of cash. So what guitars can I rely on finding that are good 7-strings? I'm pondering (yes, I know) the Ibanez RG 7321 and the S7320 at the moment, as well as the Schecter 7s (but those might be a bit big for my mediocre-sized hands).

i owned the Ibanez S7320...it's an awesome guitar for switching from a six to seven...the strings aren't too far apart and it's not that hard of a 7 to play...only thing i didn't like about it was the trem action on the bridge. the setting up of the trem was awesome...it has this thumb wheel on the back so you don't have to open it up and use any tools. i just didn't like it because it felt like a kahler more than a floyd as far as it's range and whatnot.
other than those i like the schecter c-7 hellraiser.

The Schecters are great, I prefer them to the cheap Ibanez 7s... though if you can stretch to a RG1527 that would be the best choice IMO. They're brilliant guitars.
Of course, if you have 2k+ to spend...go talk to Rob at KxK Guitars... (shameless plug, I still love my badass 7 I got from him...)

If you want pics or me to run you through on how it plays, specs, how to get one etc... get my msn off kev or EMP. \m/ And yes, it is a badass guitar.

Haha, I have nowhere near that much cash. Right now I'm looking at Warmoth stuff, since I could easily do most of the work on one of those (if I did something stupid-simple for a finish myself, it wouldn't be too terribly pricey). I especially want that low B for some of the choral/brutal metal ideas I have in my head, but I wonder how much of a bitch a 7-string Floyd would be to set up.

I'm sorta wanting a seven string too. All my guitars feel a bit weird when you get lower than drop C. Then I could have one guitar that works real nice in drop b and a, which I do sometimes. My s520ex could be for just drop c, and my Logan guitar (peavey raptor with belt sanded and artworked headstock, blue pearl pickguard, and a combination of seymours and dimarzios, as well as painted knobs and things) could be standard and drop D, my es-335 knock off stays at the Fine Arts Center I go to during school right now.

Logan, if you're going to do drop-B on a 7, you're an idiot. The lowest string is already a B. Drop-A, yes. Drop-B, no. You'd have to tune all the other strings up a step, which is retard territory (sort of). I guess. Whatever. I just got up and have to get to work soon fuck. Emp, post the fucking pic of the KxK.

What I like about it.... Mahogony neckthru and a headstock design I can live with. Expensive sob though. *DROOL*

You didn't get the V? You asshole. Was considering the V... but I went for something more understated - besides, this was one of the SII-7 prototypes so went for a lot less than normal. \m/

No, no, no. You always go for the V. Repeat after me: "I will always get the V, when given the opportunity."
