Yeah, lets say your band got to audition some people out. (not drummers tho, its a mess w/ the drumset)
How would you organize such a thing?
- just invite 'em to rehearall room, have a lil talk, make 'em play, then see... - hook up with 'em somewhere else, just to have a talk, then audition 'em later?? - same as number one, but at their place? - something else?

when i've done it I called them to make sure they sounded cool. Then I went to their show to make sure they were good enough for myself and then I was gonna tried out. Then they told me I had to drive an hour and 45 minutes every wednesday for an hour and a half of practice. and I started to think they didn't sound that good.
If there's one or two dudes just do whatever. If theres more do like a big audition deal. I guess. I don't really know. I'm just bored.

When we switched drummer 2 months ago.... it went like this:
I knew we were having serious problems w/ our old drummer. We decided to replace him after we returned from tour. It was kind of like the nail in the coffin.
I called up a dude I've worked w/ in the studio before. I knew he had the same life, work ethic, musical, and political views and myself and the rest of the guys in my band. I asked him what he had going on and what he was looking to do. I told him about the situation that we "might" be looking for a new drummer and asked him what he thought of possible trying out for the band. He agreed. We hung out with him for a while first. Discussed music, the band, the direction, goals, and just shot the shit about all kinds of things. We went over and jammed a bit. It was cool. We then jammed w/ him for about 2 weeks and hung out a lot with him to really get to know him and see how he fit with the band. When we were shure he was the guy (we pretty much knew after the 2nd or 3rd practice) we invited him in. It was pretty painless.
What is important is that EVERYONE is on the SAME PAGE!!!! If you got a guy that wants to play radio rock and a guy that wants to play prog, guess what...... it won't last. When you have a whole band on the same page, it is amazing what you can accomplish. Especially if everyone is really dedicated.

What happens if you're starting a band and you want everyone to know you're in charge?
