the reason its harder to use your ring and pinky fingers is because they share the same ligament, whereas the other two fingers are independent, therfore you must train them twice as much.... but practice makes perfect.

Yep, workin' on it. Just makes me sad that my hands are so small.

I have small hands too. No biggie...just no wild Via stretching for me.
I roll my index finger on the easy patterns, but also use it as a mute on say... a C shaped pattern.
That wild shit that Al DiMeola does... Ill pass on. Some of his chord shapes I simply cant pull off. The man is fucking awesome though.

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting a Paul-scale guitar because it'd help make the stretches more comfortable for me (even 1-3-5 hurts if I do it too often). Problem is that the necks are so fuckin' thick on most of 'em.

I dunno about that 1 man. My Epiphone has an LP neck (glued) and its damn near as thin as my RG550 was. This axe was built before Gibson took over though. Keep lookin.

Yup. I've decided that what I want in the long run is a good 24.75" guitar, particularly as I've been leaning more towards rhythm and singing lately anyway. Once I have access to a decent selection of Vs and Pauls and Explorers, I'll probably grab one, replace the pickups with EMGs, and metal my way to awesome.
Or something like that. THREE FOUR UP YOURS. \m/ (I'm high on ice cream.)

Yes, but real Gibbies are expensive and I'm far more likely to get my hands on a "decent Epiphone" in the near future (within six months).

Calisse? Do you possibly mean "callus?" I seriously don't mean to be a pedantic asshole, I just have no idea what that last word is (and dictionary.com doesn't either ).

Fuck French. Russian is so much more awesome, albeit Russia has exactly twenty-seven fewer shredders and decent musicians than France (and that's not saying much for France).
