I've been trying to get rid of this rly annoying habit - my pinky is like 45° compared to fretboard whenever I'm not using it. And when I'm playing riffage in upper frets (like 0-5 zone) on lower strings it is very close to being vertical. I've been trying to play slowly and let my fingers hover over the fretboard. It works to a degree on 12+ fret runs but when I go back to 0-5 zone it comes again. What exercises do u /have u/planning to/not planning to but know of - use to get rid of that?

I have just the thing. I had the same problem myself, and doing this exercise every day cured it. Go to this site www.guitarnoise.com/article.php?id=490 and scroll to the part about "The Light Finger." It builds control, do it every day for about 15 minutes at the beginning and end of each practice session, and after about a month you shouldn't have any problems.

Sounds interesting. Will shurely apply this to practice. Also there is one thing that comes to my mind. When I come home tired after a hard working day, I seldom pick the guitar up, but when I do, I can play faster and cleaner because my fingers touch the fretboard lightly (because I'm so tired that I can't apply any pressure).
