Have you folks seen the 3rd pirates of carrybeans? I personally don't understand the point in making 2nd and 3rd carrybean movies, 1st one was real good and it had a pretty logical ending, but the rest of em suck pretty much... Pretty much the same for Matrix

I saw "At Worlds End" last night. I enjoyed it (certainly more so than Spiderman 3). The second one was too poster-cinema for me, especially the end where Jack gets eaten by the Kraken -- everything was very card board looking to me. The third one was much better, I thought. Better script and better acting. Still kinda cheesy in some parts, but hey, it's Disney. As for the Matrix, I'm one of the few who loved all three.

Well matrix 2 was a good action entertainment movie, but it somewhat lacked the feel and story of the first one, imo. But 3rd had very little action in particular, and I barely survived some parts of it in the cinema (I certainly expected to see more in matrix 3). But all of this is strictly IMO As for pirates 3, I almost died of laughter a couple of times, the peanut and "a lot of Jack Sparrows" jokes were awesome But the ending was somewhat disturbing...

That's the problem with making a movie for a big Hollywood company. Since the first Matrix did so well, the studio wanted to take steps to ensure that the second and third movies would be equally successful. Obviously they screwed up when they did that. If they'd left the brothers alone to do their thing, the second and third movies could've been nothing short of spectacular. But I dig philosophy and existentialism, etc., so I kinda liked the brothers pseudophilosophical musings, even with less action.
The thing about making any trilogy or series or anything like that, they're obligated to tie up all the loose ends and make everything nice and neat. Same thing happened with Star Wars (both trilogies), Lord Of The Rings (hate that movie) and Spiderman. Everything's coming to a close, so they gotta make sure the audience isn't left hanging, wondering "WTF?" Same deal with Pirates Of The Carribean.
I just hope the guys at Sony don't try to pull some crap like that with God Of War. The first two have been brilliant games. I'll be pretty pissed if they cop out on the third one with some cheesy bs ending.

And they have to make money of curse (did you mean that with successful?). For me, a successful movie is a movie that has a good storyline, as well as being entertaining. All these movies that have so many digital effects tightly packed into them... Most of em are surely entertaining, but they rarely have good storylines. They make movies for money, not to express their art or feelings. Imo if they left Carrybeans as it was it would have been a great movie anyway

I haven't seen the third pirate movie but I will, because the baddest dude is on it.... Keith Richards.... Johnny Depp modeled his whole character after Keef.

If there's a choice between a major Hollywood movie with zero plot/character development, and a small indie movie with a great story...I'd take the one with the better story. However, from a studio executive standpoint (which is what I was referring to), successful = bank.

I was never an anime fan, but I was DEFINITELY looking forward to the final Neo/Smith showdown as the highlight of Revolutions when I walked into the theater. Your friend is lucky! I would've loved to see some of that movie being filmed, especially the action scequences. Reloaded had the best action of all three, I'd say.

Finished watching City Hunter. It's a comedy with Jackie Chan, it has some really silly humor to it sometimes, but heck, I haven't been rofling on the floor crying for a long time. Its btw made after some manga book i think, and although I hate anime and mangas that movie made me smile.
