So, yeah. I take my guitar in to have a lifted fretboard fixed. The guy tells me it'll be ready the next day.
I go in the next day. He hasn't even started, says he's been really busy. Okay, fair enough. Business is business, and shit happens. Says it'll be ready the next day.
Nope.
Yesterday I went in and he finally glued it up in front of my very eyes. It took him ten minutes or so, maybe fifteen. Says that today he'll set it up for me (I'm getting a hairline fissure between the fretboard and neck reglued and a full setup for only $40, so it's not a bad deal).
I went in today before work: turns out he's not there at all on Tuesdays.
It will have been six full days between the day I took it in and the day I get it back -- assuming I get it back tomorrow. Fucking hell. I'm buying my next guitar online, screw service like this.
So yeah, I've been without a working guitar for almost a week. (My other electric decided to kill a tuner.) Stuck with classical, which is not metal at all when you suck at it.

So true, I feel your pain man... One friend got new pickups and wanted to have 'em installed (I couldnt do it at that time, my right hand was screwed up) they said it would take 3-4 days... but it took almost 3 weeks to get his ibanez back, and that's cause HE called 'em to ask if it was ready...
Anyway, I totaly HATE guitar stores here.. you get no or next to no service, salesman are annoying etc... They're starting to be kinda "friendly" when they're gettin' your money (you have to buy 1000$+ otherwise they,re still assholes with you)
Thing is, they KNOW you cant go anywhere else, cause there's 3 big stores in montreal, one of 'em have cool guys, you can take your time and stuff... but they only cary fender/jackson/schecter, and fender/marshall amps... the other stores, hell i hate buying stuff there :/
I wouldnt get a guitar online, unlesss its like 50$ cause if theres something wrong with the neck, you're fucked...
The next pieces of gear I get, either i,ll order 'em online (amps) or go to see a luthier..

Eh, I think there are places that sell new guitars (I'm debating between an LTD V and an Epiphone, mostly a question of scale length) and let you send 'em back, no questions asked: Musician's Friend, for example. I know they're the enemy, but when mom and pop are worse enemies, what are you going to do?

Damn. Glad the store I go to is good. They let you take your time, try out stuff, help you find things you're looking for, etc. They even give advice that could cost THEM money if you're buying a POS. And they have the fastest return rate of any store on the Western slope here in Colorado when you have a set up done or anything installed.
They're really nice guys, too. I bullshit with 'em for a couple hours every time I go there.

Sounds like you live in Iceland . This kinda shit happens here everywhere. I ordered a guitar 4 months ago and they told me "it takes 1-2 months to get it here". But im used to it so I never expected it after 2 months. I suppose that august will be my worst case scenario.

Heh. Well, he tightened the truss rod way too much. I could have told him that. And then he pushed on the neck to make the adjustment go faster, which always freaks me out.
Oh well, I've got her back, and I'll fix everything from here on out myself. Now it's time for awesome.

Yore kidding I hope. Truss rod adjustments are a finess thing. Less is more. It takes patience and perseverance.

yeah the guitar shops near me are the same, took one guy 8 weeks to replace the valves on my legacy..... apparently it had to be sent interstate and then they blew up the american transformer because the power is different here (or I rock to hard ) anyway... I payed 2 grand for something that spent 90% of its life at the store... shit service=no more money form me.
