People say that the Old school Mesa Rectifiers make the new ones sound like toys. Is this true? I am making a decision on a new amp soon and I'm tryin to get some poeples opinions on the early 90's Mesa DUAL REC rackmount. I heard the sound of one these amps live and I was totaly blown away with its tone. I had never heard Mesa sound that good. Any input is apreciated. Thanks.

Well, I dunno... but keep in mind that most of the bands will have their amp modded.
I just know that old triple rectifiers used to be better tho. might be the same for doubles, who knows?

i'd have to agree with them. a friend of mine in high school managed to get his hands on one of the old Dual Rectifier Blackface heads (the plate grill on the front was black instead of chrome) and it was made back in 95 when they were only available in 2 channel. what i remember that amp sounding like makes me laugh at some of mesa's newer stuff i've heard.
