Now I do not know if I should encourage or discourage you Imho, you shouldn't have better gear than you really need... that is, get a comfy guitar, and some multi fx unit+a lame combo, or a mediocre combo if you aren't in a band. If you are in a band you should have a decent stack/combo with a couple neccesary fx like eq. If you are signed, then you will need good gear. If the noise bothers you get a ISP (or learn to play better in some cases ). ENGLs cost waaaaay too much, you can easily get good tone for less a price.. It's like buying a lamborgini for 1000 grand $ (or whatever they cost) when you can buy a supra and mod it and get same results as lambo for 200 grand $. But RR, if you want one you should consider one RR shape ftmw \m/

i'm wanting to get a tattoo of an RR on my shoulder, so i need to get a real one so i'm not a poser I guess i have the beginning stage of GAS, which is where i'm obsessively THINKING of gear and wanting yet not having the means to aquire it. this will all change, however, when i get my degree in computer networking in a couple years and land a sweet IT job making bank. then the american work force will be nothing more than a supplier for my gear habit, and i'll hopefully be strung out on more guitars and stomp boxes than i know what to do with

EMP has a JSX stack, and tone need to be tighten up for all his band's nice harmonies and whatknow ;p ENGL isnt THAT expensive, we're only talkin' about 1000$ more. plus theres the EC530 preamp, which is like 500$, thats cheaper than a triaxis.....

You don't need to posess a 2000$ amp rack to get good tone. Even a small cheap ass behringer EQ thingy can make nice tone out of anything... I saw a thread here someday about multifx units, and digitech rp got flamed there. Well whatdoya know, I have a marshall 15 watt and digitech rp250 and a fischer speaker, and my tone satisfies me and ppl who listen to me. SO this all shit costed me around 350$ (got speaker for free). You DON'T need an engl or mesa recto to have good tone. If you need killer tone you need those however. But I don't see a reason why I need it. If I were in an unsigned band I wouldn't need it. When we were to RECORD a demo, I would need more powerful and expensive gear. Don't worry, I have a GAS. I really want that fancy Dual rectifier I played in a store. I just see no reason why I should throw away 1-2 grand for it.

Dude, you just didnt understand a thing, sorry, maybe my explanaitions sucked cuz im frenchie.
used to play on a shitty 80's yamaha amp (its destroyed now heheh) then got a digitechRP7... it sounds "alrite" for practice, but its not badass. Now i've got the peavey JSX stack, which is at rehearsal room. Yeah it sounds killer, but could be better ;p
the other guitarist in the band has a crate head, which overdrive blows, so plays on his podXT... it's not that bad, but its not professional at all, you hear its a fake tone...
We're gonna record some shizzle before summer (yeah I now, it got delayed ten times.) so we want that to sound good
Why should i waste money on something Im not in love with?? I already have some cheap stuff, have to go up. like i said previously, i cant stand playin' on shitty tones anymore.. its just too annoyin' for my poor ears ;p
Anyway,i just want a killer tone, no matter what cost. its like wine... i never drink cheap wine, i dont like it at all, so im just gettin' nice bottles. i dont think i,d get an ENGL before 2-3 years tho, another guitar would come first, but you get the point..

EM how the fuck dare you to say "...A shitty 80s YAMAHA amp..." Everything by Yamaha is killer... If it sounded bad it´s your fault not the amp... Yamaha is so fucking true... Over the top... Every owner of a Yamaha Whatever it is a guitar, bass, amp, keyboard, etc knows that Yamaha is really good stuff... Yamaha equipment will never let you down and resist every abuse you can imagine... I destroyed a gutiar as you all know... It was fucking hard... I smashed her in the floor and WTF didn´t broke that easy... Plus Yamaha also makes badass fuck Motorbikes and boats engines so... Not Ibanez, Jackson, ESP... Muajajaja... I´m not getting paid for promoting Yamaha... I will post a pic of my yamaha soon side to side with a Jackson dinky cheappy but the shape is the same... Yamaha is 100000 more pretty... Anyway post a pic of the rest of the amp in the destroy your stuff post... Lolol... A ew days ago i destroyed an umbrella... So i might put some pics... Lol See you... PS... If you find any Yamaha thing try it... You can add some Yamaha to your RIG... If you have GAS... You should own at least one thing by Yamaha...

I don't own a yamaha, but I have one yamaha bass that my friend borrowed me for some recording / playaround. The thing that amuses me that all 3 knobs are broken, but it still sounds. Im no bass guy so I can't say if it's killer or no, but I guess it is.

I read an article with some dude (though I can't remember who) that said he uses a Crate Blue Voodoo now, and that it sounds just like his Engl's. I know what your talking about though, dude. It's a constant problem for me. ;D Right now I'm hurtin' so bad for an Orange amp. I almost bought the Tiny Terror yesterday, but it's only 15 watts. 700 some bucks for 15 watts!?! But they sound so good... The Carvin V3 is another one I've been looking at. Dual, self switching effects loops, MIDI control, every possible feature. Maybe I'll just get the Legacy, though. I need a new 7-string, some better recording gear, a new bass... Edit: ... also, a wireless setup, more mics, some Eminence Manowars and Big Ben, a new bass amp, Carvin neo bass cabs...

Like Diego said... Yamaha is pretty much GOOD stuff. I bought my Yamaha gear almost 20 years ago and it all still works with the exception of my Thirty112 amp that blew in 2002. Was struck by lightning but worked flawlessly for almost 15 years for me.......was 12 years old when I paid $100 for it. Had no channel switching and the dist sounded like ass, but used clean through ART equipment.....flawless.
Bitch is still running strong. I cant say it sounds better with the Kramer p/up (does sound more bluesy than with the Yamaha Alnicos). Neck p/up...sounds like a mid 70s STRAT...middle I NEVER use and bridge just flat out screams. The bridge p/up is going to be replaced with a duncan JB next string change. I think Ill be happy with it.
In the 80s.. I had an old Yamaha SE150 that I absolutely beat the shit out of. Had it 5 years, painted it 9 diff times. By todays standards....it would be considdered firewood, but it was all I had haha. I dont think I would ever buy another 1 though.

he paints his guitar more than he changes pickup too ;p I have had guitars Ive painted way too many times. Bitch however has been painted twice. Once at the factory and once by me. I do not suggest putting too much paint on any guitar. My SE150 had up to 30 coats of paint on it of different compounds Laquer, eurethane and toluylene. In theory, more mass equals better tone. more paint equals more weight right? Reality, mixing chemical bases in paint......(ie laquer on top of eurethane and such) actually forms micoscopic air pockets in the finish, degrading natural vibrations (sustain). The best luthiers on this planet make violins, and use nothing but laquer. Bad thing is....laquer is regulated by the E.P.A. in sales and use, thus it is harder to aquire and utilize. Bitch's paint is all laquer with a minimal laquer based clear coat. (2 coats). Normally I would pile the clear on and color sand (wet sand) it untill its perfectly flat, then buff it with a 2000 grit compound. I painted bitch when there was alot of humidity, and it fogged up on me. I sanded her back down to bare wood and started over. I have yet to take a pic that seriously shows its color shift..... but Im still gonna try. The paint is no longer available...which pisses me off. I love the color. It shifts from copper to magenta to blue, and sometimes cherry black. Its sweet. Enough ranting. Sorry for running on and on.
