Anyone given this head a try? 300W sounds like enough to launch Iceland into space and to completely metalize Greenland and Scots in the process

300 watts ?? is this the regular one or a special ediotion??
The regular XXX is alright, a tad fuzzy for my taste, but never tried it with GOOD tubes (was chiness shit)

It was on one of local's store list... They didn't have it in stock but said they could order it. They had a XXX 30 watt or so combo there, it sucked hard imo. I couldn't get rid of this annoying fuzz, my target tone is close to 0 fuzz, just super heavy.
So I picked up a Jackson and started playing through the 30 w combo. After 2-3 minutes a dude came and asked me if I could lower the volume ;D. So I was just wondering... There is actually only 1 place in Iceland where you might need something more powerful than 50w. I had a 50w combo at a song competition at our school, and I had it on around 60% volume.

its prolly the same "watts " than the marshall mode four at 400 watt i've seen. and same as bass amps, so divide per 5 for the actual power ;p

Heres a lil info for ya on amp power ratings and what they actually mean.....in my words.
Example: A Fender Squire 15 is a 16 watt "tiny ass" practice amp. I sounds like goat ass but can get pretty loud for a midget. Your average head will run between 50 and 130 watts. It will be MUCH cleaner power due to the headroom (the portion of its power you dont use that contributes to transient response).
To be 2 times as loud as that pissant squire 15.....you need to 10 fold the wattage. Thus 150 watts is twice as loud as 15.
Tonewise...the head will ALWAYS win. Better componants ans requires you to use bigger drivers (speakers) thus making it sound.... in my words...."waaaaaaaaaaaaay better". You cant beat raw diaphram (cone) size. Even with a lower powered amp... a 4x12 will always outperform even a good 2x12 combo.
RMS vs peak wattage: RMS is always better.....no question. Peak ratings are a marketing ploy to make you think you have a badass amp. A 50 rms amp is gonna be way better than a 100 peak just because its designed to have headroom. That 50 watter when pushed hard may hit clean transients upwards of 200 watts whereas that 100 peak POS sounds like ass at 50 watts. General rule of thumb.... 100 peak is about a 30 watt amp. Its pretty much a 1 to 3 ratio in power vs ass.
If youre like the rest of us starving musicians.... use what you have. But be educated when you go to buy new gear.....save yourself ALOT of trouble.

Me too. I'm going to have to try to save for something that doesn't suck balls here pretty soon: not sure what that's going to be. Thinking about getting a B-52 2x12, because I've liked the ones I've playedfuckyes.
