I'm going to put together a perfect thrash guitar, but I don't have a clue as to what kind of pickup would be best for that sort of thing.

Pickups for playing thrash... well the classic's always the EMG81 for that ripping standard tuned rhythm sound on every old school thrash album... if you're looking for a "perfect" guitar, I'd advise you to have a look on bareknucklepickups.com and get a Miracle Man or ceramic Warpig.

81 would be nice yes, not too bright as 85. Also if you like children of bodom's thrashy rythms you can try using a passive emg hz with his gainbooster.

HZ,s definitively are the WORST pickups i've come accross. No definition, no tightess, no power, nothing but noize. they're just the bad version of their actives, which aren't very good to start. I proudfully have Bareknuckles, and I can say it's by far the best ones i've played with. Lundgren are supposed to be awesome, but they're even more expensive. BTW n3c3m4c you should tell us what kinda thrash you wanna play (german thrash, american, old or new school etc) and your amp..

hz-4 + mm-04 works well for alexi. And he can do thrash tone. Apparently the gainbooster with eq modifyes the tone pretty well as well as his old preamp

This guy does not like Bodom much at all, guys. And he and I are in the process of getting ahold of decent equipment, starting almost from square one (I need to get rid of my Hellraiser, because something about the neck disgusts me).
My current plan is to get a Gibson-styled V of some sort and a B-52 amp, because the sound those two get together (played 'em just today) is damn good.
Our models for thrashiness include Megadeth and Testament, although we're both damn fond of Outworld, Tarot, and Blind Guardian.
Thus, I think n3r3m4c's question was more aimed at getting advice for a good-sounding, even, high-output pickup to throw in whatever guitar he ends up with (I think he's currently leaning towards getting an Iceman).

Apparently the gainbooster with eq modifyes the tone pretty well as well as his old preamp Laiho, his tone isn't impressive at all, in fact it sucks (rythm). The soundman must have become crazy to trying to make him sound somewhat-close-to-good. and I don't really think he has HZ pickups for real, might just be the cover . otherwise he's deaf or pretty-well paid :/
