Have you guys heard the new EP? All i gotta say is: Jon, why do you gotta disappoint me? The new song is Alright, nothing great. Not bad though. it'd be filler on earlier Iced Earth stuff, though. Now, check this out: They RE-RECORDED the Something Wicked trilogy. Tim Owens of course on vocals. But check this, Jon did the guitar parts on a baritone guitar tuned to B FLAT. Now, i love low tunings, i play 7 strings after all, and even one tuned to Bb. It works great for... Nevermore, but not Iced Earth. And Not this trilogy. The song "The Coming Curse" just lost any balls that it previously had. You know the brooding intro on Prophecy? Nuhuh. Gone. Ripper comes out wailing his ass off over the part where Matt sounded all ominous and creepy and almost like he was talking. I've listened to the Trilogy on this like, 20 times. i'm trying REAL hard to to like. REAL Hard.

Oh Djeez... I never tought I could get into iced earth again hahaha
Owen's awesome. I like him better live than on album, but on the new trilogy its good imo. the trilogy's got a new feeling, i dig it. As for the Bb tunning, tone is great, better than 90% of bands, but not that great compared to the tones on others albums. Riffs sounds better lower too (pitch)
The prophecy sounds kinda better than the original, more agressivity (would have to A/B 'em tho)
Re-Birth ov the Wicked is cool too, vocals at the end are dos.
as for Coming Curse, main/intro riff is tooo slow, otherwise @ 230 would sounds KILLER. Vocals on the stacatto riff (which sounds awesome) @ 2:45 are creappy (screams with too much delay ;p) but yeah Ken, wheres the piano?

I will destroy mankind!" ... it just doesnt sound ballsy. I've listened to it a bunch (even a handful of times since i mad this thread). I still think it falls far short of the original. The new track, i still think its... 'eh'.

I haven't heard anything of the new album, but I do hope it'll be good, Iced Earth was much (much!) better with Barlow, his singing just sounded a lot more moody and dark compared to Owens. I like Owens but I just don't think he fits in well with the sound of Iced Earth.
