I started a guitar program in Lexington, KY a few years back. It's now grown to the largest & most successful of all guitar programs at of all he 2600+ YMCAs in the US. I don;t report this to brag - I do so because I want to help others achieve success if they want to be part-time or full-time professional musicians (and teaching can give you a large chunk of your income & leave you the requisite time to rehearse, perform, etc.). www.kentucky.com/141/story/273682.htmlIt's fun to play at the YMCA Drop me a line if you wanna know more, or visit my "employment" page: www.skinnydevil.com/jobs.html

That is badass, and I think I could, with a week or two of work (assuming 80 BPM is the top level of speed for everything, which seems easy as fuck to me) pass Silver or even Gold with no problem. I take it one can become an instructor at their own local YMCA? Or am I missing something here?

Emperor - thanx, man!
Patrilomic - E-town, eh? Cool. We're, what...about 2 hours apart? Do you ever go to Tommy-fest? Man, that guy can play! What is "dos"?
TNS - The "jobs' thing for instructors is for those affiliated with my growing organization, but you don't have to be part of it to teach at the YMCA. Just depends on the individual YMCA orgs. We're helping other Ys get started, so some of them are asking that the instructor be "certified" using my method to ensure quality (because they don;t know diddley about guitar), but it'll depend on what you & they wanna do.
If you're interested, I'm happy to help you get started whether you wanna be part of the instructor network or not. Just let me know.
Where are you located?

I'm in Albany, New York during the school year, and at a little bumblefuck town in the middle of Fucknowhere, New York (Catskills area, sort of) during the summer and Dec/Jan. And yeah, I'm interested. I want to start teaching a lot more.

Contact me directly via my site (cc it to sdmusiclab AT netscape DOT net) and we'll get down to brass tacks.
BTW: How much do you teach now? How many students?

I'm afraid I haven't given formal lessons this far. I just want to start. However, I wind up giving an informal lesson to almost every guitar-playing friend of mine every time I see them, because they start asking me how modes work or what-have-you. Thus I do actually have a bit of experience.
(Looking back, I have no fucking clue why I wrote "a lot more" after "teaching" up there. My apologies if that was misleading.)
