right now it's a couple of people that i work with. both of them i can tell want to learn, but one of them at the moment is appearing to have a stronger desire and higher aptitude for it (that and her fingers are skinnier - the other student has bass player fingers). i'm already pretty good friends with the two of them, which makes it easy on me since this is my first time actually TRAINING somebody on guitar- they already know some of my quirks and it's a good foot-wetting experience - hopefully before too long i'll be taking on a 3rd student. Just after the first lesson, which was administered last night, i've already come to find that teaching others is helping me as a guitarist. at the moment i'm having to reach into the back of my mind and pull up the stuff i forgot a couple years ago from when i first started. I started them out with the 4 super important chords that you always learn when you start - G, C, D, and Em ( Em is THE MOST IMPORTANT chord, IMO - at least with metal \m/) in the open string positions. Hopefully they're doing their homework on that stuff. Next week i may start them out on some beginner theory stuff - idk. and, ov course, the best part is the extra cash

*flex* Badass. I plan to be doing the same thing this spring, if I can find students.

Cool, ive been teaching for about a year now and ive learnt loads, one word of warning though, if you start getting more students you WILL be forced to learn and teach some really really false music like emo and nu metal. fortunatly if they are not to far gone, this an excellent opportunity to try and introduce them to true metal.

One of them listens to anything from r&b to goth-metal (nightwish kinda stuff) to J-pop (she lived in japan for a year). the other, not really sure what kind of music he's into - i think he has a broad taste as well. i have another potential student (she said something about lessons, but i gotta figure out whether or not she was just smartassing me because me and my other students were hanging out at the restaurant we work at while she was working) and she is METAL to the nth degree. if lessons do happen, and i do pick up that third student...there shall be DOS. i'm even considering using the next G3, dream theater, or symphony x tour that launches as a "field trip" \m/
