Yo guys, my demo is up. I'd encourage you to listen to the four songs we have up right now, and then let me know what you think. That said, we're not quite a metal band, more progressive rock, so if you want to get straight to the metal, check out "Because of You". It's the closest thing to metal we got, and there's a massive shred solo at the end (everything after the first little dose of sweeping and tapping is improv, so listen from that perspective). Please give a listen, add us if you like, and let me know what you think. www.myspace.com/thiswaytoneverland

She can sing dude. Sounds alot like Morgan Lander too. Too much pressure..... solo was killer. Not over the top, but fitting. Battaries... nice demo song. Simple and to the point. Nothing compares... seriously badass intro riff. Beacuse of you... sounds alot like Voi Vod.... therefor it fucking owns. The progressive tag fits. I like.

Thanks man! I'm glad you like it.
Cecily is certainly a great singer, I and thought so for a long time before she joined the band and I became biased, haha. ;D
There's not really enough wierd odd time signatures and stuff to make the Spocks Beard fans go, "Oh, this is prog rock!" but at least we play Sus 2 chords and such, which in our genre of music makes us about as progressive as it gets.
I like to do a lot of the odd time stuff as polyrhythms, so while I may be playing 5/4 (as in the into to Because of You) the rest of the band is playing 4/4, so we have the wierd odd time feel, but the song still has a pulse that the non-musician types can bang their heads to. I think it's a good balance and a fun thing to do.
We took it a step further and wrote a riff in which the bassist is playing 4/4, and I'm playing 3/4, and the drummer is doing both.
He plays hands in 4/4, and feet in 3/4. It sounds simple, but he's not just doing triplets on the kicks, he's playing unison to the guitar riff, which makes it hard on all of us to count both parts simultaneously but we're getting it down.
Now that I've typed that out, I'm sure it probably makes no sense, and nobody cares, but I'm posting it anyway, because polyrhythms flex at all other kinds of rhythm. ;D
