O.K. guys, I'm about to start apprenticing with this producer. He's amazing at his job, and I need a good computer for my lessons. I've decided to go with Mac over PC. What kind of specs should I go for, a killer processor, ram, what?

depends on what you need. But even the cheapest macbooks and imac's are superior to most pc's. If you need a lot of space and processor and ram and stuff then go for a macbook pro. That's what I got.

Okey as far as the specs go you would need a decent sound card (guess that was pretty obvious) and having 2+gb of DDR2 533+ mhz RAM would be recommended. But also you might want a HDD with higher RPMs, not those 5400 or whatever those stock HDDs have. I think you can change a HDD in some laps though. I have yet to see a PC lap with a good sound card and a fast HDD. So go check Macs out. Also if you desire to trade portability over easy upgrades or you can't find a lap that suits you, get a stationary computer, there won't be a problem to find one with specs you need.

This is my 0,00000001 cents in this topic... It depends a lot in what programes you are going to use... To give you an idea... I can record with a pentium 200mmx 64 ram... Multitrack with cool edit... Fx with sound forge can take a few minutes or eternity... God bless the preview button... See you... Get something nice... Ask your master jedi for advice...
