Joel, I dont remember where you cut the lows for guitar EQ
was it 100hertz or its 50-80 ??
and do you high-cut? or just at the end of a mix?
"Amp" EQ is good, fine tuned it with full-parametric Q, and put some gate, now i just gotta clean the lows a lil. I'm just messing with nuendo, nothing really serious at the moment (althought i'm gonna have to record one of my hommie's song)

I hi pass nearly everything in a mix except kick. I even hi pass bass from 30-40 hz.
Guitars I tend to do like 75 - 125hz. It depends on the tuning and how much meat there is down there and what the role of the bass guitar is in the song.
I tend to like filters that are 12db cuts per octave or more. I like some of the sharper filters for guitars like uad cambridge has.

oh yea, 1 more thing... for low end try waves C4 or cubase (nuendo) multiband compressor in the low mid area. like 120 - 240. That should help control your low end.
