Way back in the day, when I was first discovering real guitar playing, and the potential for what music could be and the potential for what I could accomplish on my instrument, I used to come to Insane Guitar on a daily basis as part of my daily practice. I'd go into the archives or the masterclasses, and learn something new here EVERY SINGLE DAY, whether it was pentatonics, harmonic licks, string skipping, rhythm patterns, alternate picking, sweeping, sequences, theory, or -- one of my personal faves -- Guitar Player Etiquette.
Then, for about five or six years, I didn't have an internet connection or even a computer. Now that I'm back online, I'm starting to get back into the old habit, and it ROCKS. In the little podunk town I live in, the licks, riffs, songs and solos in the lessons here are as close as I can get to jamming with someone and picking up new ideas, techniques and phrasing elements I never would've even thought of on my own. (Great guitarists just don't come to Motown, Colorado.)
IG is an absolute wealth of information -- a veritable shredder's bible -- and is wholly deserving of the praise garnered over the years. And on top of all that, the people I've had the pleasure of speaking with in this forum are some of the coolest cats online anywhere! Very down-to-earth people and not up their own ass about how talented they are, and you've all made this one of my favorite places to hang.
So, long story short, I guess this is my way of saying THANKS, JOEL!
