hey Joel, I remember a few years back that you got a custom guitar... and I was wondering which company did that, and what was the price? What other commentary do you have about someone looking for a custom guitar?

you can try looking for a local luthier, i think that would be the cheapest solution, since you arent paying for the "decal on the headstock" and such. Otherwise I have only heard good things about Ran custom shop. Also Caparison kicks ass I have heard.
If you are suicidial or have a lot of cash there are all those pimped brands, ESP, Jackson e.g. etc.

Cause the real thing (at least for me) is Mauro Liberatore, a guy here who speak french and is one of the best luthier in America (25+ years of experience) plus, no hassle for shipping and customs. I told him exactly what I wanted, and he did a great job. And they stoped the RR7 run, because they had neck problems... so...
oh and my guitar took less than 3 months to get done. waiting for jackson is 12-18 months

But isnt it the wait that makes it play that much smoother and sound heavier?
Anyway a luthier I know around here is cheaper than at least ESPs or Jacksons CH, especially after the prices at both went up.

www.monsonguitars.com/Wacky stuff, but inexpensive, and does custom. Good work, from what I've heard. I like the guys attitude. I recently found him while looking for info on the new Wolves in the Throne Room EP and album (they use them).

I got it from Warmoth. The price was 1,700 in parts. Took 2 hours to build. I have to say I love the guitar, but I was disappointed by the neck. The frets needed to be leveled cuz the factory job sucked.
