idk for me it frankly depends on what notes are available and not how low and brootal it can be. Most of our songs are in f harm minor so having access to C and C# is crucial

cus you can't have two c's in a scale. It doesn't really matter though, they are the same note.

Basically, yes, they are on a guitar or piano. But violinists and singers will play Db a bit flatter than C#.
C# goes to D or D#. C# does not go down to C in normal scales. Db does.

I think I'll just stick to guitars and pianos

my understanding of it is that two of the basic rules are 1) don't mix your sharps and flats and 2) don't repeat the letter of the note name and, btw, it seems some more win was added to this lick www.youtube.com/watch?v=exddPcTpbSk

Pat's got it. There's more, but those are the rules that, if followed, will keep me off of my ranting horse (that is, the horse upon which I rant -- the horse itself doesn't like ranting, it just assrapes various people on command).

I'm going to butcher and consume your horse. Also, I don't understand why someone would want to write most of their songs in the same key and using the same scale. I can understand e minor since it gives you access to all of those damned open strings which make shit sound radical but even then everything you write starts to sound the same. Also, changing keys in song is prime.

Well we do write our songs in the same key (different scales though) so that our songs will have similar sound, like, for concept stuff and shit ehm. I dont consider it such a bad thing though... Kinda hard to explain

Kinda hard to explain oh well it's okay for concept stuff, since the whole point of concept songwriting is to have the ENTIRE project be very similar. but writing stuff using the same scale and such for EVERYTHING IN YOUR ENTIRE CATALOG, CONCEPT OR NOT is made of fail, and Torkin, buddy, you are definitely not made of fail
