Hey, my beloved RR 7 strings sounds like a charm but what the hell is wrong with the action??? I think I'm gonna bring her to the luthier this week... Have the frets fixed and rod adjusted and whatknot to get a nice action. I mean, now the frets 1-7 are almost perfect, after it's harder to play... then on 15-24 it's kinda buzzing, which drives me CRAZY, I can't stand string buzzing and hum thru an amp , and the sustain is hacked. It's a custom/luthier guitar btw, no cheapie ibanez or high-end yamaha here. What's the lowest action you guys can get ?? I don't want any buzz at all. I'm currently in Eb with 11-52 + a big 64 for the Bb, which was the biggest i could get my hands on. I could live with lighter high strings tho.. BTW I pick VERY hard, I might have to change my technique, most of the time I play fast heavy riffs with palm mutes... and wanking with sloppy sweeps. Someone once refered my picking to be as agressive as The Ramones (or other punk bands) but trying to play chirurgical stuff at 230 BMP

I personally kind of like a higher action. I can play fast enough to suit my needs (some stuff on the upper most frets of my guitar can be a little tricky but i'll get it with practice). The best cure for buzz is high action I say. Also, I like a good fight when playing my guitars. (slightly hypocritical since my guitar has absolutely no heel and upper fret access is cake but whutev's).

Stef.... sounds to me like a truss rod adjustment and making sure the frets didnt creep up on ya.
It takes time to do it properly, thus why Techs charge so much to do it.
1st, the neck has to be adjusted, then the frets checked for level alignment all the way from top to bottom, from 1st fret to 24th. Basically the whole neck.
Your luthier SHOULD do it for you no questions asked, but shoulndt charge you much if he bitches about it.
Here in Nashville, going rate is 75- 100 bux for a pro setup including intonation. I have no idea what it is in Kanuk land.

Y'all should come to Albany NY. There's a guy here who'll do 'em for under 50$ including a new set of strings. If you know him i think he'll intonate your guitar on the spot for free.

Okayyy got the guitar back yesterday.... First thing I noticed, strings were SOOO tight (I asked them to keep the guitar in Eb btw, cause I live in the 80s) So the guy told me they put a set of 14-70 !!!! Plus an high 12. For one second I was scared !! anyway... it plays well, sustains FOREVER, have no fretbuzz and HUGE TONE heheh. It's just harder on the hands but whatever i'm a man \m/
Was the best $100 I invested in a long time

SUP? So, what did it turn out that it needed? was it just a truss adjust, or did you have a level and crown? MOSHON DAVE

I'm thinking about having a couple of guitars Plek'ed and he is listed in Nashville, and Its only 2 hrs away. MOSHON DAVE
