Sorry; another question, but does anyone else have a problem playing shit when recording? I've got a few technical licks that I could nail 100 times in a row when just practicing but when I start recording shit I can't play them consistently to save my life. I've spent 30 minutes beforehand getting timing right with the metronome but it's not helping much. Any suggestions, or am I just fucked?

i have the same problem sometimes. the best thing to do is probably to take a short break if you're having that much trouble...just sit back and relax, take a deep breath, and go back at it.
now, if you're screwing up while trying to lay down harmony tracks, there i can't help you. my biggest problem is remembering a melody right after i record it...it'll take me twice as long to listen to what i just recorded and figure out what i did than it does to make the melody in the first place.

Beating the red light syndrome comes with practice. We all have it. The trick is to not concentrate on your playing and think that you are recording. Just play naturally.
