Since this is a new board I might as well start a new thread . I personally use those DR "Red Devil" Elixers ( just cuz they look cool ) . I got some at a guitar convention for free and i decided to just keep using them . Let me know your thoughts and preferance ...

i had been using Dean Markley Blue Steels for a while. I just recently put a set of Elixer Nanowebs (11-49) on my Jackson. My dos 7 string i just got was going to have D'addarios on it because the dude threw them in for free, but when i opened the package the 42 wasn't in there. So, i just kept the D'addario .54 (i think...it's the low B string) and put a pack of Dean Markley 9s on it until i can find some better strings and take it in to get setup. Oh, I also have a set of Elixers on my acoustic. So, right now i'm using 3 different brands of strings, with 2 of them on one guitar.
I like Elixers now because they have tone and they last so long. I like dean markleys because they last longer than D'addarios and Ernie Ball. If Elixer makes a 7 string set available i'm gonna go for them too.

Elixir 12-52... I wish they made something bigger, like 12-60 or something...
Why ? Cause tone is wayy BIGGER, lasts longuer than tiny strings, and my picking is bad with loose strings, i prefer TIGHT strings. Besides, since it's harder to play, its more badass.

I've been looking for another brand, just to try something new, but damn these are hard to beat! Too bad they don't have 'em for sevens

Ive been using my ernie ball 9's on my ibanez
and daddarios on everything else.
I have 10-46 on the esp. 11-52 on the destroyer 13-56/58 on the les paul.
I have gotten used to the heavier strings.
Great for tuning down, and wild with the pinch harmonics.
9 has a cool tone for clean and slow stuff.
heavy have a cool clean tone, wicked heavy tone, I have just gotten more character from them with the distortion I use.

Ive been using Dean Markley 10-52s for years now....I love them. I havent had any problems with them so ive just stuck with them since I tried them.
I actually tried them out because I saw an add in a guitar mag with Marty Friedman using Dean Markleys.

Dean Markley Blue Steel, 11s
I used Ernie Ball Power Slinky for years -- until very recently -- but I got tired of having to replace at least one string a week! Tried a set of Deans, they lasted for months, and I've never looked back, end of story. (Much better tone than Ernie Ball, too.)
No idea what my acoustic is strung with.

Ernie Ball 9-42 in standard. Probably use a custom light going down a step.
The only strings I have tried and have yet to break.
