I have an ESP LTD with a finished neck, and it is slick..I guess it depends on the lacquer used, since Epi Les Pauls tend to have a slow rough neck...Maybe people like that for holding chords...I hate it. Natural is still best though. I had a good $400 Schechter, and the active pickups were loud as hell..very dark sounding though. You can get a great playing guitar for $300 now. You sure you want to spend that kinda money?

Great playing for the money, sure, great tone or construction, I doubt it It's not like it was expensive for an amp... the one I dream of, is 4800 euros + shipping

I think Gibby LP's have a slow rough neck due to its (neck's) immense obesity. That is, they are fat as fuck. And yeah they arent really for shredding, but a fat neck equals a fat tone. Whichever ltd you have, I bet its neck is thinner than a gibby LP, even if it is an ltd eclipse. But yeah I agree, I never liked finished necks (although some people do I believe). But I had and still have a great playing guitar that i got for a little less than 500$. When I got it it played and sounded awshome to me. Now I own a guitar that costed me around 1700$. And I can tell a huge flying difference (well duh ).
